3 Simple Ways to Elevate Your Morning Routine

3 Simple Ways to Elevate Your Morning Routine

Ever wonder how you can take your mornings from chaotic to blissful? Whether you consider yourself to be a morning person or not, we can all benefit from elevating our morning routines. It’s one thing to have a good morning wherein you get all your essentials done, but it’s quite another to take it one step further, by infusing little touches to make the entire morning experience an even more blissful one.

Here are my top 3 recommendations on how you can tweak your mornings and experience an added boost of bliss. They’re simple, doable yet impactful

1. Listen to some music

 Listen to some music

Music has an amazing effect on our mood. Put yourself in the mood you want by finding or creating a playlist to lift your spirits. I personally prefer morning jazz while I journal and set my goals for the day because it has a way of energizing me without stressing me out.

There’s also something very soothing and delightfully elegant in listening to jazz. It transports you away from the chaos of the morning, slowing things down, and putting a smile on your face. Check out this playlist for a quick escape.

Once it’s time to get down to business, I switch to binaural beats. I’ve only started doing this recently ever since Justine Steel of the Balanced Mom Boss Bootcamp recommended it. In case you’re new to binaural beats (like me), in a nutshell, they shift your brainwave pattern into a flow state aka they make you more productive.

2. Do some breathwork

 Do some breathwork

One of the ways I stay centered is through breathwork. Despite breathing being such a basic human action, more often than not, we take it for granted and end up doing it wrong. In a recent Health & Energy Optimization Class by Sheree Hannah Wellness, I learned 3 things.

First of all, it’s something we should do through the nose, and not the mouth. If we start breathing through the mouth, we signal to our brains that we’re stressed. And we don’t want to start our morning this way.

Secondly, when we breathe, we need to see our bellies rise and fall, not our chests. This is the kind of deep breathing that truly allows us to reap the nourishing benefits of each breath.

Lastly, a full breath takes around 4 seconds to inhale and another 4 to exhale. Doing 20 rounds of this is a great way to start the day. So, try to incorporate these 3 things when you breathe intentionally and set the tone for your day.

3. Create a ritual around your coffee

Create a ritual around your coffee

We all know that coffee is an excellent source of antioxidants. And if we manage to take the right amount for us everyday (e.g. healthy levels of caffeine and acidity, not too much please), we can get all the benefits and enjoy the energy boost we all look for when imbibing this drink.

For me, ever since I tried the Morning Drip Coffee Dripper from the Galleri, my mornings have felt a lot more grounded. Something of a ritual happens when you assemble the coffee dripper, put the coffee filter in place, scoop the fine coffee grounds and begin to pour hot water in a circular motion.

Time slows down with every swirl and it’s almost hypnotic. It might feel that way, but this little ritual is still time efficient as it only takes a couple of seconds for the coffee to drip through completely. As a busy working mom, that’s the best of both worlds for me.

The Morning Drip Coffee Dripper from the Galleri is not like any other coffee dripper. Other than being so well-made, its minimalist design and matte ceramic finish make it an elegant addition to any dining or coffee table. I also love that it’s available in multiple colors such as Pacific Blue, Pastel Pink, Mustard Yellow, Obsidian Black and Mint Green, so there’s definitely at least one for every Super Mama. I personally love the black and pink versions. Each dripper serves around 420ml or 1.7 cups of coffee, perfect for a giant mug for one or for sharing with your favorite coffee buddy (in this case, it’s my husband since this breastfeeding-mama can only take 1 cup of coffee a day).

Put it all together

No matter what your morning routine currently looks like, you can make these 3 simple tweaks to elevate your morning. Adding music to set the tone for your day, breathing the right way to center you, and creating a ritual around your coffee are ways we can make every morning a little more blissful.
